Anecdotal Report (MAR) Policies and Procedures
1.
Each resident is required to submit one MAR a month.
2.
Each resident is required to make an oral presentation of a MAR a month
during the Tuesday and Thursday conferences.
A schedule of the oral presentation will be put up by the
resident-in-charge - with one to
two MARs every Tuesday after the Postop and Preop Conference and two-three MARs
every Thursday from 7:15 to 8:00 am.

Starting June, 2004, each resident’s MAR shall be posted in the
Department’s group email at the latest one day before his/her scheduled oral
presentation (12 noon deadline). A
doc file should be uploaded within the mail.
4.
Starting June, 2004, each resident’s monthly MAR shall be posted in the
Department’s briefcase within the MAR folder not later than the last day of
the month. A ppt file should be
uploaded.
5.
Likewise, each resident’s monthly MAR shall be posted in the
resident’s journal not later than the last day of the month.
An html file should be uploaded.
6.
Evaluation of the MAR will be based on the following minimum criteria:

Follow format and instructions
6.2
Clear insight-message
6.3
Correct English grammar
7.
A resident will be asked to correct/polish his/her MAR if there is
unsatisfactory fulfillment of evaluation criteria and the MAR is a candidate for
publication.
8.
There will be a MAR Contest with two categories – Best MAR for the
Month and Best MAR for the Year. Prizes
will be announced in the near future. Late submission will be automatically disqualified from the
contest. Evaluation criteria will include at least the minimum criteria as
stated in No. 7. Other criteria may
be added.
9.
Every year there will be a MAR Resident-in-charge.
In 2004, he/she will be Nolan Aludino.
Dr. Aludino’s duties and responsibilities are to put up the monthly
schedule of oral presentation in the Department’s group email; monitor the
timeliness of posting of MAR in the Department’s group email, briefcase, and
on-line journal of residents; and impose fines for late posting and uploading.
