Indexing Title: MJCABAHUG’s Medical Anecdotal Report [04-1]
MAR Title: Patient with vaginal bleeding
Date of Medical Observation: April 26, 2004
Narration:
One time I was on duty at the Emergency Room, I received a referral from OB-GYNE for Central Venous Pressure (CVP) Insertion at the delivery room. I then went there to answer the referral.
As I was doing the CVP for a 39-year-old G2P1 patient with profuse vaginal bleeding I then got the chance to talk to the patient and find out what happened to her. She told me that she was 2 months pregnant and she don’t like to have her baby.
One day prior she got a chance to ask her neighbor for an advise and she took a unnamed pill and few hours later started to have profuse vaginal bleeding. Hearing her story, I then told explained to her the possibility of getting herself killed for her action and reminded her to pray to ask forgiveness for what she did. She then cried and did not hear a word from her again. I then did the insertion in a hurry to get away, thinking that she got mad. As I was about to go out of the room, she then called me and said 'Thank you very much doc for everything' and smiled.
Insights (Discovery, Stimulus, REINFORCEMENT):
It is very important to treat patients in a wholistic approach. We should not forget that our patients need spiritual care aside from the physical care we provide to make them better person.
