MAR Title: A Polio Patient with Huge Cystolithiasis

Date of Medical Observation: February 14, 2004

Narration:

It was a Valentines Day when this less fortunate 52 y.o male polio patient came in complaining of dysuria and gross hematuria.

He was diagnosed of cystolithiasis in other government institution but given no chance to be operated on because of his Co- morbid condition.

At that time I find no absolute contraindication to perform cystolithotomy and that I scheduled the patient for OR and was operated on.

One week after discharge, this patient of mine followed up and offered Free painting service for my car despite his disability. He was so thankful for if not for me no doctor’s will come and treat him.

Insights (Discovery, Stimulus, REINFORCEMENT):

As a surgeon it is a call for us not to choose Patient whom we’ll serve. A service to Humanity is a key, for us to be rewarded from up above.
