MAR Title: Does it Make sense?
Date of Medical Observation: March 2005
Narration:
It was a sunny Saturday at the hospital. I had told my wife to fetch me for a lunch date out. From our house, my wife arrived at the exact time we agreed upon. I was supposed to go home as early as before noon, but when I was about to log out, something emergency came up. I was obliged to operate a patient with incarcerated hernia. While responding to my lawful duty as a surgeon, I could not help but to think of my wife who was already waiting hours at the lounge of the hospital and the operation was not yet done. Suddenly as I was looking at my patient, things had brought to mind like what was his wife doing at the exact moment while his husband was undergoing an intensive operation. Well, I finally got conclusion that whatever it would be about his wife’s condition right now would surely better worst than waiting at the lounge. Such thoughts gave me a relief. The operation was successfully done and I hurriedly went for my wife.
In a while, we were heading to mall for our lunch date, I asked my wife if she’s ok or whether she got bored waiting for me. To my surprise, she told me “It was just fine, I had fun talking to the wife of your patient, and she was also looking forward when the operation would be finished. As a matter of fact we did not know how long we were waiting there”.

This story has brought me something to think about. And I finally come to realize that maybe all of us are designed for each other. Each of us has its own role to play to complete the chain of life that connects us. Sometimes, we see two people laboring together and how more value and productive the work was, than those who choose to work alone. Even doctors are working as a team. This can only mean something. That although life has brought imperfections. There are always beauty that shines through the loving care and friendly smiles that go along our way. And it does make sense.
