 MAR Title: Inggo’s Story

Date of Medical Observation: January, 2005

 Narration:

I just came from the Hospital when one of my neighbors visited me at my apartment. He was a middle aged man, bachelor and one of the boarders near my place. He is known to be the clown in the neighborhood. His named is Inggo. Since I was known to be the doctor in the neighborhood I am responsible when anyone in my place reaches out for help. Inggo was complaining about his weakening and upset stomach. I checked him up; the usual doctors would do if the patient’s condition is unstable.  And I discovered that there was nothing wrong about Inggo. I knew that he is just suffering from a psychological distress. Since I know he would still not let me go if I would only say he should just get rest, I gave him one of my medical secrets in treating instability. I got one capsule of multivitamins and a glass of water and asked him to drink it. “There you go” I said to him. After awhile Inggo recovered himself and said to me “ Dok, nawawala na sakit ah. Tenk u dok ha.” And then he went home without knowing I was just making fun of him. But it worked.

Insights (Physical, Psychosocial, Ethical) (Discovery, Stimulus, Reinforcements):

I realized that most people seek solutions to their problems they created.

I was smiling then when I realized that there was really a powerful connection between mind and body. And believe to the natural impulse of human beings that when the mind thinks the body reacts.  I discovered that "faith" still the most effective medicine.
