MAR Title: My Companion
Date of Medical Observation: JULY 2005
Narration:
During my tour of duty, I was about to pronounce a dying patient who had breast cancer stage 4 with hospital acquired pneumonia.
During the course of the resuscitation, I talked to the children who were all crying. I explained her prognosis to them. A daughter of the patient was so quiet and all I hear from her is her sobbing. After a while, she stopped crying and started talking to me. She told me, they understand her condition and that they were just crying for her loss. They were already ready about the scenario. And she was confident that their mother will be with a companion to Heaven.
Insights (Discovery, Stimulus, REINFORCEMENT):
Her word of a Companion struck me. As a doctor, I was not able to recognize and thank Him whenever I treat my patients. Our God almighty never fails. When there are times that we fail in the treatment of our patients, It is not that He is not with us. It is just we fail to recognize His presence and fail to ask for His help. He is always there to accompany in our journey of life. We need to seek for His guidance since our knowledge is with an end and His is endless.
